Road noise traffic levels are shown for major roads with more than 6 million vehicle passages annually (Round 1) or more than 3 million vehicle passages annually (Round 2 and Round 3), and for all roads located within the Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area (BMUA) agglomeration.

Railway noise traffic levels are shown for major railways with more than 60,000 train passages annually (Round 1) or more than 30,000 train passages annually (Round 2 and Round 3), and all railways located within the Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area (BMUA) agglomeration.

Belfast International Airport image

Airports

Airport noise traffic levels are shown for the major civil airport with more than 50,000 movements (take-off and landing) per year (Belfast International Airport), and the airport (George Best Belfast City Airport) located within the Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area (BMUA) agglomeration.

Industry

Industry noise activity levels are shown for all Part A activities as defined in Schedule 1 of the Pollution Prevention and Control Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 (as amended) and all ports within the Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area (BMUA) agglomeration.

Consolidated noise levels are an amalgamation of all noise sources covered by the Environmental Noise Directive (i.e. roads, railways, airports and industrial noise) located within the Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area (BMUA) agglomeration.
